UConn To Limit Double-Dipping By Retirees

STORRS — - At the governor's request, the University of Connecticut board of trustees passed a new policy Tuesday that restricts the number of days that a university retiree may be rehired to work each year.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell asked UConn to develop the policy after a Courant investigation revealed that more than 1,000 state retirees were collecting both a pension and, under 120-day contracts, a paycheck. Last year, these retirees collected at least $14 million on top of more than $44 million in pensions.
