SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS

Snow White, in this case, the people of Iowa; the seven dwarfs: the Republican candidates vying for the presidential nomination - Herman Cain withstanding. Why the pundits, the press, the country believe that Iowans have a larger impact on presidential primaries is beyond us. Remember back a short three years ago, the electorate in Iowa gave Barack Obama a major thumbs up. He easily defeated John McCain by 54% to 44%. McCain was literally taken to the slaughter house. But if asked today, many of the Obama voters would acknowlege that they made a bad choice. It's called 'buyer's remorse. Iowa does not reflect the demographics of the country as a whole, 91% of the population is white, the remaining 9% either Hispanic, American Indian, other race or of mixed race. In the big picture, what goes on in Iowa stays in Iowa.
Iowa has approximately 3 million people. Thus based on its size, Iowa should not have that much of an influence on the country's politics. However they do and the reason for this though can be attributed to its early January 3 presidential primary. As we shall see, who ever the winner of the January 3 election turns out, the Republican presidential nominee will be someone different. McCain came in forth in the 2008 primary but turned out to be the Republican nominee. In the past Iowan's have turned to their socialist friends in Washington to beef up their bank accounts.. And this was the case in 2008. Obama was for ethanol subsidies; McCain was for the ending of the subsidy, an election year killer. With unemployment in Iowa at 6.4%, Iowan's have No Beef with the present administration.
So far, the Republican debates have provided fodder for Obama as he heads into the meat of the election season. What has turned out to be a "he said, she said" battle of the Seven Dwarfs is none other than a school yard name calling urinating contest. Sorry to put it in those words, but we could not find any other ones to describe the back and forth tit for tat.
What has surprised us thus far is that no candidate has been able to score a knockout blow. There have been some low blows, but no straight rights to the opponents glass chin. We know why. It is due to the press; the Fourth Estate has self anointed itself as the 'power'. Hence, by its might, it has ability to make or break a candidate and it keeps its tongue lashing going from one candidate to another. The longer it keeps the contest going, the longer it enriches itself. After all, who would listen to them if it were not for their insidious daily 'high tech lynching" of one candidate after another. Thus far, and it is understandable that the main stream voter has not been convinced to show a majority of support for any one candidate.
We wait patiently for the under card squabbles to continue as advertised, but relish the Main Event on November 6, 2011. Only one trivial question remains, when will one of the dwarfs turn into a GIANT.
