REPUBLICAN V FORMATION
The Republican contest resembles a gang of geese flying in a V formation. The head goose breaks through the headwind thereby allowing the following geese to draft behind leader. When the goose heading the formation becomes fatigued he is relieved by the second in command who now must expend its reserve energy in maintaining its front flyer status. And it continues until all of the geese had the opportunity to be the point goose.
The Republican contest resembles the V formation. Mitt Romney was the first point goose, with others flying in the V formation in hopes that they will soon be able to claim the point position. To the disappointment of Ron Paul, Rick Perry, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Romney is still maintaining the lead. Others who were part of the flock are not worth mentioning as they lost lift while flying at the back of the pack.
Once every four years, and be mindful of the fact that it is winter and the geese are flying north instead of their usual southerly route toward the Granite State of New Hampshire. There, they hope to ruffle the feathers of other member in their flock with the hope of replacing the head goose. This year is not any different from those past, but Mitt Romney is maintaining his position at the front of the V formation uplifted by warm air currents coming from the Deep South. Can he survive the expected downdraft on Tuesday? We shall see.
