Thank you for your comment. The reason that the Tea Party Movement is so vigorous is because of Patriots like You who teach our children why the United States came into being. Past Patriots wanted Big Government out of their lives, the same as today's Patriots. Being from the Constitution State (Connecticut) more and more of our Citizens are being informed of the important provisions of the10th Amendment and that is why a 10th Amendment Resolution has been passed by over 30 States. Keep up the good work.

I'm a fifth-grade teacher in Colorado, and a crucial part of teaching civics is providing students with our primary sources: the founding documents. This is critical in understanding what “We the People” means. Today, like 230 years ago, those documents instill in students the belief that all voices are important. Every one of our citizens is needed to pursue liberty. Futures do not have to be inevitable and "Little voices" can make dramatic impacts on events. That is Paine's greatest contribution to our country. His pamphlet, Common Sense, spoke to all the voices in the 13 colonies during a time of great indecision. He gave a vast number of citizens a vision of what each could do, 176 days before the Declaration. A belief that power should radiate from the citizens. That message is still foundational for all our students today.

Thank you for your comment. The military personnel are included to remind the Patriot of the size of our military when compared to the rest of the Socialist Bureaucracy. Commerce, Agriculture, Energy, Interior and SSA are packed layer upon layer of workers paid for by the tax payer that neither wants nor needs most of the services they produce. The SSA can be downsized by employing more efficient technology, such as the internet.

How can the military and homeland security be considered part of government bureaucracy?
What good is it going to do to reduce the size of government such that we can no longer defend ourselves as a country?

Thank you for your comment. If the government can "claw back" bankers bonuses, "We the People" should be able to claw back some of these outrageous pensions. No doubt that most do their jobs, but we are talking about salaries forced upon the public by the socialist unions who pull the strings of the socialist politicians. That is why the Tea Party Patriots have reached Critical Mass Status. The Revolution Continues.

Clif,
This was one of the best articles you've published pertaining to the criticism of the unions.Unfortunately, the sins that were committed years ago by the unions and the passive city councils or employers who negotiated with them cannot be corrected. The other side (employers or town councils)
took the easy way out and agreed to the demands and simply passed it on to the consumer or property taxpayer respectively. This is the flaw in an unregulated "free" economy. It's dog eat dog and everyone fights to protect their interests.
In criticizing the unions, it's important to recognize that they were doing their jobs in much the same way as congressional lobbyists do theirs in support of the greedy companies they represent!
