May she rest in peace. RBG paved the way for President Trump to nominate his third Supreme Court Justice upon her death. As we all know, RBG has been living on borrowed time for the past twenty years. In fact she was diagnosed with colon cancer in 1999. In 2009 she came down with pancreatic cancer; this proved to be her undoing.
However, because she had such a big head, one which according to her, no one else could fill her shoes, she decided to continue jurisprudence while in ill health. But her time ran out at a very auspicious moment for Republicans. RBG believed that she could last until the next president (Biden she hoped) took office on January 20, 2021; didn’t happen the way she envisioned.
Because of her stubbornness in not retiring during the Obama presidency, Obama did not have a chance to appoint a much younger woman to fill her shoes. So effectively, thank you Justice Ginsburg for allowing President Trump the chance to replace you with Amy Coney Barrett.
