We have repeatedly posted on Elise Stefanik. She staccato questions her adversaries with verve. She is the type of V.P. who can carry out the duties of President if need be. However, in 2031, that is if Trump decides not to run, she can carry on the Torch for eight more years.
Elise Marie Stefanik is an American politician serving as the U.S. representative for New York’s 21st congressional district. As chair of the House Republican Conference since 2021, she is the fourth-ranking House Republican.
Editor’s note: This is the third in a series of profiles of potential running mates for presidential candidate Donald Trump on the 2024 Republican Party ticket.
A potential name on former President Trump’s running mate shortlist is being described by political insiders as a “powerhouse” that could bring a major boost to his chances at retaking the White House.
The horse race among those hoping to be named Trump’s running mate continued this week with the names widely believed to be on the shortlist making the rounds on various media outlets and at public events to praise the former president, including House GOP Conference Chair Elise Stefanik of New York, who some say has a certain “attractiveness” for the role.
Stefanik gained national attention in December 2023 for her intense questioning of university presidents during a widely televised U.S. congressional hearing on antisemitism. Some have credited Stefanik with contributing to the resignation of Liz Magill, the president of the University of Pennsylvania.
Initially elected as a moderate conservative, Stefanik has moved considerably towards the right, as she aligned herself with the then-President Donald Trump.
