Obama was a cool dude. He had charisma. His public appearance were well choreographed, his words parsed with panache. However, when the situation came up that involved race, he surreptitiously created a brushfire one that divided the country. How so? For instance, in the Trayvon Martin affair, Obama said, “if I had a son, he would look like Trayvon.” On the other hand US President Barack Obama has said police officers “acted stupidly” when they arrested a black professor who they thought was trying to break into a house. Harvard University professor Henry Gates was forcing open the door to his Massachusetts home when police were called. He showed them his identification but they arrested him, saying he was being loud and tumultuous. Professor Gates said he was targeted because he was black. In this case we agree with Obama. The police were ardent racists, typical of a bad apple in the barrel. But overall most policemen are there to help, keep order, protect and serve.

In both cases, Obama was implying that Blacks are always under suspicion no matter where they live, what their education level is, in their work environment and out in public. Of course, from our perspective that is not the way we see it. As an example, the great city of Chicago has an image problem because 750 people were killed last year, the majority of them resided in the South Side. Those killings very rarely occurred outside the hood but an outsider’s view is a whole lot different. To the initiated, seeing Chicago, Obama’s hometown, as a killing field is not true. Those who live and work there have no problem walking the streets at night. Although they are mindful of the societal breakdown in the Southside. Two different views, two different perspectives; a microcosm window into the macrocosm of country life.

Federal judge to hear lawsuit Tuesday against Arizona’s election results

PHOENIX — Attorneys for state and county election officials head to federal court Tuesday, Dec. 8 to try to quash one of the two remaining attempts to overturn Joe Biden’s win in Arizona.

In legal papers filed in federal court, Deputy Maricopa County Attorney Tim Liddy said the lawsuit, filed by the 11 Republicans who hope to be electors for President Trump, is “woefully deficient.”

He said the claim is based on “conspiracy-theory laden, unsigned, redacted declarations making wild accusations” about Dominion Software, which provides election equipment to the county.

And Liddy told U.S. District Court Judge Diane Humetewa that claims of hundreds of thousands of illegal votes appear to have come “out of thin air,” calling the lawsuit a “fishing expedition.”

Roopali Desai, representing Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, was even more direct in saying there’s nothing to the allegations of a conspiracy to throw the election to Biden.

Republican challengers contend that conspiracy involves Dominion and its officers converting Trump votes into votes for Biden.

“Plaintiffs allege that this plan somehow originated in Venezuela more than a decade ago, over the year enlisted ‘rogue actors’ from various ‘countries such as Serbia’ and ‘foreign interference by Iran and China,’ compromised voting machines and software in states across the country in this election, and was ultimately executed with the assistance of thousands of Democratic, Republican, and nonpartisan election officials despite the presence of both parties in numerous states across the country, including Arizona,” Desai told Humetewa. She called it “dystopian fiction.”

Cross’ comments were in reference to Scott’s Republican rebuttal of President Biden’s first address to a joint session of Congress Wednesday, a speech for which the senator received glowing praise from Republicans and harsh criticism from left-wing media.

Her criticisms were also in response to a challenge from The Root’s Michael Harriot to name a “political, social, or economic institution in America where widespread disparities and discrimination does not exist.”

A Texas Democratic official is facing calls to resign from his post after calling Senator Tim Scott (R., S.C.) a racial slur.

After Scott delivered his rebuttal speech to President Biden’s congressional address on Wednesday, Lamar County Democratic Party chair Gary O’Connor called Scott an “oreo,” a slur that refers to a black person who is seen as “having adopted the attitudes, values and behavior thought to be characteristic of middle-class white society, often at the expense of his or her own heritage,” according to Dictionary.com.

Alabama Republicans Sue Census Bureau

WASHINGTON, D.C.—The Attorney General of Alabama and Rep. Robert Aderholt filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Census Bureau on Wednesday, alleging that 2020 census data was being intentionally manipulated ahead of this year’s redistricting efforts. The lawsuit also claims that the Bureau was deliberately delaying its reporting of the Census results to Congress. 

Republicans cite departures from census estimates in letter to Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo.

More than a dozen House Republicans Friday are questioning Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo on whether there “was any political interference” in the final census numbers used to decide how many House members each state will get for the coming decade. 

The letter, first obtained by Fox News, is led by Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., the ranking member on the House Oversight Committee.

The Republican House members cited gaps between the number of House seats some right-leaning states were projected to gain — or some left-leaning states were projected to lose — and the final results announced this week. hey told Raimondo, overseeing the Census Bureau, that they “have questions about the methodology and the role the Biden White House may have played in releasing these numbers.”

“The apportionment population results released by the Census Bureau are strikingly different from the population evaluation estimates released just months ago on December 22, 2020,” the GOP members wrote. “Remarkably, the differences benefit traditionally blue states – which gained population compared to the estimates – over red states which tended to lose population compared to the estimates.”

They added: “For example, New York was estimated to have a population of 19,336,776, but was attributed an apportionment population much greater than that of 20,215,751, a difference of nearly 900,000 individuals. Likewise, states such as New Jersey and Illinois experienced large population increases of hundreds of thousands of individuals compared to the December estimates, while states such as Arizona, Florida, and Texas experienced large decreases from the December estimates.”

According to the Census Bureau, differences between the estimates the Republican members cite and the final census apportionment results are “typically interpreted as error in the estimates and are used to inform research and methodological improvements over the decade.” But Comer and the other Republicans on the letter ask Raimondo if the break between estimates and the census results may be the result of something else. 

“This trend calls into question whether there was any political interference with the apportionment results released by the Census Bureau,” they write. 

The GOP group asks Raimondo for a trove of documents, including communications between the Census Bureau and the White House, and whether the counting of illegal aliens in the congressional apportionment may have had an effect on the final result. Past decennial counts have counted illegal aliens.
