Firecrackers were invented in China, years of experience with gunpowder and the like have honed their expertise. On the 4th of July every year we celebrate the Declaration of Independence with awesome firework displays.

Currently there is a massive demonstration in Hong Kong. Two million strong are protesting a new law, since suspended but not rescinded, that will allow for the extradition of Hong Kongers to the mainland. If this POWDER KEG gets out of hand we may see another Tienanmen Square.

However, Chinese authorities are watching this with a jaundiced eye. Spreading to the mainland is one thing they can’t afford. A billion people in revolt is akin to a nuclear reaction, very difficult to stop.
