A senior Hamas official has reportedly called on Jerusalem residents to buy “five shekel knives” to “cut off the heads of Jews” in a recent video.
“People of Jerusalem, we want you to cut off the heads of the Jews with knives. With your hand, cut their artery from here,” Fathi Hammad, Hamas Political Bureau member and former interior minister, says in the clip, which was translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute.
“A knife costs five shekels [about $1.50]. Buy a knife, sharpen it, put it there, and just cut off [their heads]. It costs just five shekels. With those five shekels, you will humiliate the Jewish state,” he said.
“The Jews have spread corruption and acted with arrogance, and their moment of reckoning has come. The moment of destruction at your hands has arrived,” Hammad added.
Several people cited the Hamas honcho’s call to arms in the context of his militant group’s firing of rockets into Israel and the clashes between Palestinian rioters and Israeli forces in Jerusalem, the Jewish Journal reported.
Far-left House Democrats break with Biden, blast Israel in speeches

Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) condemned Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as “a far-right ethno-nationalist” on the House floor and asked: “How can we pay lip service to a Palestinian state, yet do absolutely nothing to make that state a reality while the Israeli government we fund tries to make it impossible?”
Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), the first Palestinian-American woman elected to Congress, told her colleagues that “Palestinians aren’t going anywhere, no matter how much more money you send to Israel’s apartheid government” before rounding on the Biden administration over its response to the conflict.

A day earlier, the Pentagon issued a statement saying Austin had spoken with his Israeli counterpart Benny Gantz, during which Austin “conveyed the Department’s ironclad support for Israel’s legitimate right to defend itself and its people, and … condemned the launching of rockets by Hamas and other terrorists [sic] groups that targeted Israeli civilians.”
As the speeches continued, the Israeli military said that its air and ground troops had struck Gaza in what appeared to be the heaviest attacks yet.

The British allowed 36,000 Syrians to enter the land in 1934. From 1924-1947 the British secretly brought in 440,000 Arabs from Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq. During the Holocaust, the British smuggled in 200,000 more Arabs.
Of the 1,303,000 Arabs living in Palestine in 1947, 1 million were illegally brought in and the other 300,000 were born to those brought in after the Zionist movement in 1882 was born. My former employer, Hotel America, is in the market for employees, but has a problem recruiting them. Why work when us ex employees are on the dole to the tune of $20 per hour; you know that works out to $40,000 per year. They are offering $15 per hour, can’t survive on that. Three mouths to feed with one on the way. And those food stamps help too.

Marriott CEO: Finding new hotel employees has been tough as demand spikes
Marriott CEO Tony Capuano says demand to stay at his hotels is recovering rapidly as people get their COVID-19 vaccine. But, finding new employees to service that spike in demand is proving to be a challenge right now.
“We have had some labor challenges in those leisure destinations where we have seen demand spike so quickly,” Capuano said on Yahoo Finance Live. “So in South Florida, Texas, Arizona we are running job fairs and we are providing some one-time hiring incentives to get the hotels staffed.”
Marriott isn’t alone in ramping up efforts to attract new workers (and retain current ones) amid a very tight labor market.
Chipotle said Monday it would lift the average hourly wage for its restaurant workers to $15. The company is also offering employee referral bonuses of $200 for restaurant workers and $750 for general managers. The burrito chain is looking to fill 20,000 restaurant positions.
Meanwhile, convenience store chain Sheetz said Monday it would hike the hourly rate for all of its 18,000 employees by $2 on May 21. It will also pay employees an added $1 an hour this summer.
The efforts come in the wake of a surprisingly lackluster April jobs report.
The U.S. economy created 266,000 jobs in April compared to the 1 million estimate. March’s non-farm payroll gain was revised sharply lower, showing a rise of 770,000 versus the 916,000 previously reported.

“The laboratory incident hypothesis is extremely unlikely to explain the introduction of the virus into the human population,” Ben Embarek said. “Therefore, [it] is not in the hypotheses that we will suggest for future studies.”

International concern
The WHO has previously cited genetic sequencing that showed the coronavirus had started in bats and likely jumped to another animal before infecting humans.
Many of the people who had fallen ill with the new virus in Wuhan, a city with a population of roughly 11 million, were reported to have had links to the Huanan Seafood Market.
Scientists initially suspected the virus came from wild animals sold at the seafood market, prompting China to swiftly restrict public access to the market at the beginning of last year.
China’s CDC has since said samples taken from the seafood market suggest it was a place where the virus spread, not where the outbreak first emerged.

Peter Ben Embarek, WHO expert on food safety and zoonotic diseases, said Wuhan offered “the first solid clues” about the transmission of COVID-19 and any investigation would start there.
Many of the earliest reported cases had no connection with the market. On Dec. 10, 2019, 41 Wuhan residents were hospitalised with what turned out to be COVID-19, but 13 of them had no link to Huanan.
A team of Chinese researchers said there were two types of SARS-CoV-2 circulating in Wuhan, only one of which was associated with the market.
Scientists also said the virus was unusually “pre-adapted” for rapid human transmission, making it unlikely that the first human contact was made at the seafood market.
Though there is no credible supporting evidence, some researchers still do not rule out the possibility that the virus was released accidentally by a specialist lab at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Federal judge to hear lawsuit Tuesday against Arizona’s election results

In legal papers filed in federal court, Deputy Maricopa County Attorney Tim Liddy said the lawsuit, filed by the 11 Republicans who hope to be electors for President Trump, is “woefully deficient.”
He said the claim is based on “conspiracy-theory laden, unsigned, redacted declarations making wild accusations” about Dominion Software, which provides election equipment to the county.
And Liddy told U.S. District Court Judge Diane Humetewa that claims of hundreds of thousands of illegal votes appear to have come “out of thin air,” calling the lawsuit a “fishing expedition.”
Roopali Desai, representing Secretary of State Katie Hobbs, was even more direct in saying there’s nothing to the allegations of a conspiracy to throw the election to Biden.
Republican challengers contend that conspiracy involves Dominion and its officers converting Trump votes into votes for Biden.
“Plaintiffs allege that this plan somehow originated in Venezuela more than a decade ago, over the year enlisted ‘rogue actors’ from various ‘countries such as Serbia’ and ‘foreign interference by Iran and China,’ compromised voting machines and software in states across the country in this election, and was ultimately executed with the assistance of thousands of Democratic, Republican, and nonpartisan election officials despite the presence of both parties in numerous states across the country, including Arizona,” Desai told Humetewa. She called it “dystopian fiction.”

The FCC is prohibited by law from engaging in censorship or infringing on First Amendment rights of the press. Democrats’ quest to make Washington, D.C., the 51st state hit a big roadblock this week in the form of a fellow Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., said he opposed Congress alone creating the new state and he believes, like Republicans have argued, that statehood for the nation’s capital needs to be done through a constitutional amendment.
In a 50-50 split Senate, D.C. statehood already had a tough shot of becoming a reality because as long as the legislative filibuster is in place the proposal would require 60 votes to advance. Republicans have been squarely opposed to elevating the federal district to statehood status arguing it’s an unconstitutional powerplay by Democrats to add two more liberal senators to the upper chamber.
