This is Budapest all over again. The siege of Budapest or Battle of Budapest was the 50-day-long encirclement by Soviet and Romanian forces of the Hungarian capital of Budapest, near the end of World War II. Part of the broader Budapest Offensive, the siege began when Budapest, defended by Hungarian and German troops, was encircled on 26 December 1944 by the Red Army and the Romanian Army. During the siege, about 38,000 civilians died through starvation, military action, and mass executions of Jews by the far-right Hungarian nationalist Arrow Cross Party. The city unconditionally surrendered on 13 February 1945. It was a strategic victory for the Allies in their push towards Berlin.
Russia does not fear a Super Soaker
This would never happen under a Trump Administration. Putin would not risk a confrontation for the fear of defeat. Under Biden the fear of defeat does not exist. 
More than a dozen countries have urged their citizens to leave Ukraine amid warnings from Western powers that an invasion by Russia could be imminent.
The US, UK and Germany are among those who told their nationals to leave.
Moscow has amassed an estimated 100,000 troops along Ukraine’s border but denies any intent to invade.
In a phone call, US President Joe Biden again warned Russian leader Vladimir Putin of the costs of any invasion.
For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said invasion warnings could stoke panic, which he called “the best friend of our enemies”.
The White House has warned that an invasion could happen at any time, and could begin with bombing from the air. Russia characterized such allegations as “provocative speculation”.
But we are in a dynamic situation. Is Putin calling our bluff? We wonder! However, we must take the situation very seriously because American lives may be at stake. Here, at the NBTP, we don’t see Putin entering Ukraine. There are to many risk factors, plus the elephant in the room called the UNKNOWN.
