Teacher, “Oh, you didn’t know that you had White Privilege? Someone told you that you had it? Who was that? Your high school teacher. Now we get it. Was she White, oh sorry, was they They? A huh!”
Teacher, “What determines White Privilege? The benefits you get.
They, “What benefits?
Teacher, You don’t know them by now?
They, “We never thought about it until you brought it up.
Teacher. Yeah, like me? White!
I was hired because I am the right color. Do you think they wanted a Black person, who by the way ascended to their position in college through affirmative action and a curved grade scale that led to their graduation? So, that is why I am your teacher.”
Teacher: “But to put this scenario in the right context, we must white wash your mind of the White Privilege you enjoy. You see, Blacks had it rough, they mostly lived in the hood, had one parent up-bringing, father was AWOL. Do you get the picture? And the mother was herself from a one parent family. Get the gist. They didn’t have the nurturing that you did. And to top it off, they scrubbed floors, washed dishes, did anything they could to make ends meet. Many turned to drugs, not only using them, but selling them and prostitution too. Their kids were harassed to, in, and from school. How would you like to live like that?”
They, “Doesn’t matter that I studied, sacrificed, labored to get where I am?
Teacher, “No, that doesn’t matter one iota. Because of White Privilege you were elevated in this biased society. In baseball, integration did not start until Jackie Robinson broke through. The Blacks were good, real good, but were kept out of the Majors because of bigotry. You see, now they are stars, Hammerin Hank broke the Babe’s home run record.”
They, “Yeah, but Teacher, the Blacks are good at sports, where the Whites aren’t, this is the result of genetics. Don’t you understand that differences exist in mental capacity? All brains aren’t created equal. ”
Teacher, ” that is not true, no science exists to show that.
They, ” excuse me, but your are lying like all Libtards. There are plenty of studies that prove that differences exist. We are not saying that applies to all, after all there are outliers.”
Teacher, “So, to make things right we have to reverse this scenario, the injustices of the past. The day has come where we need to recognize the errors of our ways. Do you understand what I am trying to tell you? By recognizing our guilt; we can move forward into a new era, one where all people of color will be placed in powerful positions, judges, prosecutors, doctors, nurses, engineers, managers, corporate titans, mayors, governors and presidents. In other words we will now take full credit for our bias, for not understanding the hardships imposed by White Privilege. Equity is the new Equality. “
