Not long ago Russia was waged in a guerilla war, however, the Afghans proved to be a fighting force. The Mujahideen fought gallantly during this nine year conflict and the years to follow. As Communist troop deaths reached into the hundreds of thousands, ordinary Russians became alarmed. Finally, Gorbachev pulled the troops in 1987 letting the Afghan elements fight for themselves. Years of hell prevailed. The conflict was called Russia’s Viet Nam and today we find Russia in a similar conflict. Russia is occuplying parts of Ukraine. The Soviets seized Crimea several years ago and now occupy parts of the once Soviet state.
The Ukranians have proved to be equals with their counterparts, causing damage to Russia’s infrastructure. Russia inturn has returned the favor, not at infrastructure, but civilian targets, killing many. In order for Ukraine to win the Special Military Operation, they must up the ante. The U.S. was on the verge beating the North Vietnam until public opinion turned against the war. The TET Offensive turned the tide. Ukraine must forge a similar operation. Target infrastructure throughout Mother Russia, only then will Putin realize that this is a no sum game.
