The Kremlin pushed back against speculation that Russian President Vladimir Putin was behind the disaster, calling such accusations “a complete lie.”

Florida Republican introduces impeachment articles against Joe Biden
‘It’s long past time to impeach Joe Biden,’ Steube said in a statement
Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., jumped ahead of his Republican colleagues on Friday and introduced articles of impeachment against President Biden.
While several congressional committees are building a multipronged case to remove Biden from office, Steube said it was past time to take action. He filed articles of impeachment against Biden charging that the president had been complicit in his son Hunter’s alleged crimes and had worked to shield him from justice.
“It’s long past time to impeach Joe Biden,” Steube said in a statement. “He has undermined the integrity of his office, brought disrepute on the Presidency, betrayed his trust as President, and acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice at the expense of America’s citizens.”
Steube filed four articles alleging high crimes and misdemeanors by Biden.
The first accuses the president of abusing the power of his office by allegedly accepting bribes, committing Hobbs Act extortion and honest services fraud related to use of his official position. These charges arise from Biden’s alleged involvement with his family’s business dealings, including Hunter and James Biden’s (the president’s brother) alleged effort to sell access to then-Vice President Biden between 2009 and 2017 in exchange for “payments and business opportunities from foreign and domestic business partners.”
House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer, R-Ky, on Wednesday released a memo purporting to show that foreign payments to the Biden family totaled more than $20 million — though Democrats say none of the evidence shows that President Biden accepted any payments or committed misconduct.
The second article charges that President Biden obstructed justice, citing IRS whistleblower testimony that “members of the Biden campaign improperly colluded with Justice Department (DOJ) officials to improperly interfere with investigations into tax crimes alleged to have been committed by Hunter Biden.” Both the Justice Department and special counsel David Weiss, the U.S. attorney appointed to investigate Hunter Biden, have denied that the Biden administration impeded Weiss’ work.
The third and fourth articles accuse Biden of “fraud” and paying for Hunter Biden’s illegal drugs and trysts with prostitutes, respectively.

“The evidence continues to mount by the day – the Biden Crime Family has personally profited off Joe’s government positions through bribery, threats, and fraud. Joe Biden must not be allowed to continue to sit in the White House, selling out our country,” Steube said.
On the same day, Steube introduced legislation to require the Secret Service chief to write a report on the illicit use of controlled substances in the White House. The move comes after the Secret Service closed its investigation into cocaine found at the White House last month without identifying a person of interest. Steube named the bill the “Helping Understand Narcotics Traces at the Executive Residence (HUNTER) Act.”

“The United States Secret Service (USSS) refers to themselves as one of the most elite law enforcement agencies in the world. It’s completely unacceptable that the USSS has failed to find who is responsible for bringing cocaine into one of the most secure buildings in the world,” he said. “The American people deserve answers. My legislation demands information on the closed investigation into the cocaine found at the White House in July and focuses on how Congress can provide oversight to prevent future illicit usage of controlled substances in the White House.”
Steube’s articles of impeachment have jumped ahead of at least four GOP-led committee investigations pursuing avenues to impeach Biden or his top officials. The White House has ridiculed suggestions that Biden should be removed from office.

More migrants arrive as New York City Mayor Eric Adams addresses budget crisis
MIDTOWN (WABC) — New York City Mayor Eric Adams says that without major policy changes and additional support from the state and federal governments, caring for asylum seekers may cost the city over $12 billion over three fiscal years.
The mayor announced the updated economic forecast as the city nears the arrival of 100,000 asylum seekers since spring 2022. There are currently over 57,300 asylum seekers in New York City’s care.
Last week alone, more than 2,900 new asylum seekers entered the city’s shelter system. So far, the city has opened nearly 200 emergency sites.
“The city is running out of money, appropriate space, and personnel,” to care for migrant families the mayor said as he delivered remarks about the new estimated costs. They wanted them, now they can eat their cake and have it too.
The Department of Homeland security sent a team to New York City to access the issue. They were on the ground at the Roosevelt Hotel on Wednesday, where another bus arrived in the evening. They are determining what the agency’s role will be in helping the city. Send them to the Vineyard, the Obama’s will welcome them with open arms.
FIRST ON FOX:Hunter Biden’s former friend and longtime business partner visited the Obama White House and then-Vice President Joe Biden’s residence dozens of times between 2009 and 2016, likely to make him the next target of the House Oversight Committee’s investigation into Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings.
Fox News Digital previously reported that Eric Schwerin had visited the White House and vice presidential residence at Observatory Circle at least 27 times during Joe Biden’s vice presidency. However, a more extensive review found that Schwerin actually made at least 36 visits during that same time frame.
Schwerin was the founding partner and managing director of Hunter Biden’s now-dissolved firm Rosemont Seneca Partners when he was appointed by then-President Obama to the Commission for the Preservation of America’s Heritage Abroad, an independent U.S. government agency, in early 2015. Obama reappointed him to the commission in January 2017.
A former federal prosecutor called out a reported filing made by an attorney for former President Donald Trump’s valet – a co-defendant in the Mar-a-Lago special counsel case – and said the allegations amount to “extortion.”
James Trusty, a former chief of the Justice Department’s organized crime unit, said both Trump’s case and the state of allegations against the Biden family from whistleblowers “speak volumes” about the integrity of the current DOJ.
He referenced allegations against Assistant U.S. Attorney for Delaware Lesley Wolf that claim she warned Hunter Biden’s attorneys about potential scrutiny on a storage unit the first son used.

But, Trusty added that a recent wrinkle in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into alleged mishandling of classified information at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago compound in Palm Beach may be similarly alarming.
“You had a high-level DOJ official — according to a statement submitted as an officer-to-the-court, to a federal judge — told Stanley Woodward, a defense attorney representing Walt Nauta that it would be a shame, essentially, if he endangered his pending judgeship by not flipping Nauta against President Trump,” Trusty said.
The incident, first reported in the UK Guardian, claimed federal prosecutor Jay Bratt – head of the counterintelligence and export-control section of the DOJ’s National Security Division – brought up the fact that Woodward filed an application to be considered for a federal judge opening.

In July, many veterans who served in Afghanistan and took part in the search for U.S. Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl were stunned by the news that the Federal District Court for the District of Columbia had vacated the 2017 court-martial convictions against Bergdahl.
For those of us who were deployed at the time, the vacated case not only reopened old wounds from a forgotten war but highlighted the grave injustices surrounding Bergdahl’s grossly lenient sentencing.
In 2009, Bergdahl deserted his firebase in eastern Afghanistan at the height of the war against the Taliban and other terrorist groups. As then-President Obama ordered a surge of troops into Afghanistan in an attempt to break the downward slide in the war, our operations at the time came to an immediate halt as Bergdahl went missing.
U.S. forces in the region were ordered to shift away from their objectives to defeat the Taliban in order to search for Bergdahl. I led a task force of Green Berets, who along with every unit in the eastern half of the country, searched for Bergdahl to no avail.

Instead, an estimated eight Americans were killed and dozens seriously wounded in militant-occupied areas attempting to locate the deserter.
Obama announced in 2014 that he had secured the release of Bergdahl — by exchanging five senior Taliban from Guantanamo Bay. I was furious over Obama’s Rose Garden ceremony touting such a lopsided and dangerous deal for a man we knew had betrayed his country and his fellow soldiers. Then-national security adviser Susan Rice claimed Bergdahl had served with “honor and distinction.”
Notably, four of the five Taliban prisoners exchanged went on to become senior officials in the Taliban’s totalitarian dictatorship in Afghanistan. I was the first veteran to go on national television and proclaim that Bergdahl was not a hero but rather a traitor.
To the Obama administration’s embarrassment, Bergdahl pled guilty to desertion and misbehavior in the face of the enemy, was given a demotion and a fine, but was given no jail time.
For a man who betrayed our country by walking into the arms of the enemy and whose actions resulted in the deaths and injuries of U.S. service members, this didn’t go far enough. While Bergdahl was treated brutally by the Taliban after he was no longer useful to them, he ultimately walked out of the courtroom a free man unlike those killed and wounded as a result of his actions.
But surely enough, Bergdahl continues to defy justice.
Bergdahl no longer has a criminal record despite the fact that he pled guilty to the charges. The decision to vacate his conviction and sentence was due to a legal technicality that the presiding military judge was applying for a position as an immigration judge in the Trump administration.
Further, for the appellate judge to claim the military judge showed undue bias when Bergdahl was given no jail time defies logic. The irony is that the military judge received significant public criticism, including by me, for giving Bergdahl such a lenient sentence.

The American people shouldn’t stand for this decision and the veteran community deserves better.
In the end of July, I sent a letter along with four other veteran lawmakers urging Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and Attorney General Merrick Garland to review options for a new trial for Bergdahl.
We are concerned that the political leadership in the Biden administration — many of whom served in the Obama administration — will have little interest in pressing forward with a new trial to avoid rehashing the embarrassing mistakes of 2014 and have every political interest in allowing the case to fade away as we head into an election year.
For a man who betrayed our country by walking into the arms of the enemy and whose actions resulted in the deaths and injuries of U.S. service members, this didn’t go far enough.
But the cold hard reality is Bergdahl’s desertion cost American lives, disrupted critical military operations, and saw five dangerous Taliban leaders freed in return for his release.
The veteran community will not forget Bergdahl’s betrayal and on behalf of the wounded, the Gold Star families and the Afghans once again being brutalized by those Taliban leaders, we will not allow this case to be swept under the rug. That starts by appealing for a retrial for this traitor.

Observers wondered for months if Bergdahl would be charged with desertion after the deal brokered by the U.S. to bring him home. He was — but he was also charged with misbehavior before the enemy, a much rarer offense that carries a stiffer potential penalty in this case.
“I’ve never seen it charged,” Walter Huffman, a retired major general who served as the Army’s top lawyer, said of the misbehavior charge. “It’s not something you find in common everyday practice in the military.”
The Obama administration has been criticized both for agreeing to release five Taliban operatives from the Guantanamo Bay prison and for heralding Bergdahl’s return to the U.S. with an announcement in the White House Rose Garden. The administration stood by the way it secured his release even after the charges were announced.
