In 2008 Iowa was won by the Democratic nominee, Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, by a 9.54% margin of victory. Obama took 53.93% of the vote while his Republican opponent, Senator John McCain of Arizona, took 44.39%.
In 2012 Obama won Iowa with 51.99% of the vote to Romney’s 46.18%, a Democratic victory margin of 5.81% – a markedly closer result than in 2008.

Authorities previously confirmed the pair illegally entered the U.S. earlier this year.

The Obamas endorsed the “Lyan V.P. for president” which is the Death Knell for her campaign against President Trump. Remember, it was not to long ago that Hussein Obama laid down in front of his (video)audience in Cairo as he addressed America’s tensions with the Muslim world; add to that the (video)bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia. Now we find Obama once again endorsing someone who is bent upon the destruction of America as we know it.

The 25th Amendment outlines the steps that must be taken to fill a vacant vice presidency, should Harris be sworn in as president

Joe Biden‘s withdrawal from the 2024 presidential race and subsequent endorsement of Kamala Harris for the Democratic presidential nomination has sparked a number of questions — including whether he will choose to resign before his current term ends, which would create a vacancy in the administration.
According to the Constitution’s 25th Amendment, if the president of the United States resigns from office, “the Vice President shall become President,” at which point the new president “shall nominate a Vice President who shall take office upon confirmation by a majority vote of both Houses of Congress.”
In other words, if Biden opted to leave the White House early, Harris, 59, would become president and would then nominate someone to take her place as vice president. That person’s confirmation would require that both the Republican-controlled House and the Democratic-controlled Senate approve.
As for who, specifically, that person would be, it’s all speculative at this point. More than likely, Harris would choose the same person she’s eyeing for a 2024 running mate.
While the speaker of the House (currently Republican Rep. Mike Johnson) is next in the line of succession for the presidency, he would not be promoted to vice president. That line of succession only applies if both the president and vice president die or resign at the same time, in which case Johnson would become the commander-in-chief.

If Biden resigned, Harris would not be the first POTUS to nominate a new vice president mid-term — in fact, the vice presidency was vacated back to back in the 1970s.
On Oct. 12, 1973, Spiro Agnew resigned as vice president, leading President Richard Nixon to nominate House minority leader Gerald Ford as a successor.
The move came after Agnew was charged with bribery, conspiracy and tax fraud and urged to leave the administration. Agnew ultimately pleaded no contest to a single felony charge of tax evasion.
Ford would go on to become the 38th president of the United States in August 1974, less than one year after being sworn in as vice president, when the Watergate scandal caused Nixon to resign as well. Ford then nominated former New York Gov. Nelson Rockefeller to succeed him as VP.

On Sunday, July 21, 81-year-old Biden endorsed Harris to lead the party into November, putting her in a strong position with his delegates ahead of the Democratic National Convention. Biden’s endorsement came moments after he announced in a statement that he would be withdrawing from the 2024 race.
“While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” the statement read in part.

As the oldest president in U.S. history, Biden has faced concerns about his ability to serve another term. His performance at the first 2024 presidential debate did little to quell those fears among Democrats, leading to heightened doubts about his cognitive health and calls for him to drop out of the race.
At 78 years old, Republican Donald Trump is now the oldest major party presidential nominee in U.S. history.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Friday at his resort in Palm Beach, Florida, Trump said on Tuesday, a sign the two men are looking to improve ties.
“Looking forward to welcoming Bibi Netanyahu at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida,” the former US president said in a post on Truth Social, using Netanyahu’s nickname.
The meeting will be their first since the end of Trump’s presidency, during which the two forged close ties, and comes at a time of strains also between Netanyahu and Democratic President Joe Biden over Israel’s war against Hamas militants in Gaza.
The bodycam video, released by Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley, shows Crooks’ lifeless body as a pool of blood trails along the roof where he wounded Trump and killed a hero firefighter earlier this month during a Pennsylvania rally.
One man, who appears to be a Secret Service agent, tells a Beaver County Emergency Service Unit officer that Crooks’ body appeared to be the suspicious person who was previously reported to them.
“So this is the guy,” the agent says.
“This is him,” the Beaver County emergency services unit officer replies.
The emergency services officer also says a police sniper took photos of Crooks, including of him on a bicycle, according to the footage.
“That’s the sniper that sent the original picture and seen him come from the bike and set the book bag down and then lost sight of him,” the officer tells the apparent Secret Service agent.
The two law enforcement officials then scroll through photos of the suspicious target on an iPhone.
Crooks’ gunfire grazed Trump’s ear and hit three rally-goers, killing 50-year-old volunteer firefighter and married father of two Corey Comperatore.
The gunman was quickly shot and killed by a Secret Service agent.
Law enforcement sources previously told The Post the Secret Service was warned about Crooks and even labeled him a “threat” 10 minutes before the rally, but allowed Trump to get on stage anyway.
The feds were also warned that there was a “character of suspicion” on the grounds more than an hour before shots rang out, sources said. But he was not described as having a gun when the warning went out, according to sources.
Grassley, a Republican, called on the Secret Service to release more information to the public as the federal law enforcement agency faces fierce criticism over security failures at Trump’s Pennsylvania campaign rally.
“Federal agencies, particularly the Secret Service, have failed to be transparent with the American people,” Grassley said in a statement.
“This assassination attempt is a matter of substantial public interest, and the public’s business ought to be public.”
Grassley released the video the same day Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle stepped down following pressure from lawmakers.
The Iowa senator also included a letter he wrote to the Secret Service and Department of Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, demanding answers to outstanding questions about their “catastrophic failure” on July 13.
In the letter, Grassley said he received intelligence that the Secret Service had joint jurisdiction with local police over the AGR International building where Crooks was perched on.
The Secret Service had previously claimed they were only in charge of the rally grounds, and that local police were in charge of securing AGR.
Grassley included an unconfirmed map that showed different state law enforcement sectors the rally grounds had been broken into, but the AGR building is not included in any sectors.
“Is this document accurate?” the lawmaker asked in the letter.
Grassley also included a law enforcement contact information sheet from the event, which noted that there was a “UAS” operator — an Unmanned Aerial System, better known as a drone — available during the event.
“Did the USSS, local, or state law enforcement deploy UASs or counter UASs for the July 13, 2024 rally?” Grassley asked, noting reports that Crooks had deployed a drone of his own to case out the rally grounds before the shooting.
Law enforcement personnel on the rooftop video also mention a drone at one point.
He also pressed the Secret Service to answer questions about whether the water tower set back from the AGR grounds — which overlooked the entire AGR campus and may have had a clear view of Trump’s stage — played any part in the events of the day.
“Was the water tower cleared in advance of the rally?” Grassley asked, “Did the water tower have any role in the events at the Trump rally?”
The Jill Biden head of the Secret Service quit today. She was under fire for her dismal showing as Congress peppered her with salient questions which she was not able to answer. Even Democrats were calling for her resignation. There were no two ways about it. Incompetency at the Secret Service cannot be tolerated.
“The assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump on July 13th is the most significant operational failure at the Secret Service in decades.”
These are not my words: This is from former Secret Service Director Kimberley Cheatle’s opening testimony at Monday’s hearing before the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability.
One would think that Cheatle had done her research to know every detail of the events of that day; however, her testimony suggested the total opposite. Former Director Cheatle provided nonsensical, incoherent, and unsubstantive answers to basic questions from my colleagues and me on both sides of the aisle.
