“I think it would easily be illegitimate,” said Biden. “The increase in the prospect of being illegitimate is in proportion to not being able to get these reforms passed.” Vice President Kamala Harris, sent out on the morning shows Thursday, offered basically the same position.
For people lamenting the “Big Lie,” this is nothing new. Trump’s election fraud conspiracy theories have been endlessly documented. Sometimes it sounds as if he has merely appropriated the language of Democrats, who’ve been playing this ugly game for years. And it’s not only the post-election evidence-free Stacey Abrams-style sore-loserism that we’re typically subjected to. It’s far more pervasive.

The “Defeat the Mandates” march took to the streets and monuments of Washington, D.C., as protestors and speakers called for an end to COVID-19 vaccine mandates nationwide.
A number of major U.S. cities including D.C., New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago, Minneapolis, and Boston have implemented citywide rules requiring residents to show proof of vaccination at certain establishments, such as restaurants and gyms.

Russia-Ukraine tensions: UK warns of plot to install pro-Moscow ally
The Foreign Office took the unusual step of naming former Ukrainian MP Yevhen Murayev as a potential Kremlin candidate.
Russia has moved 100,000 troops near to its border with Ukraine but denies it is planning an invasion.
UK ministers have warned that the Russian government will face serious consequences if there is an incursion.
In a statement, Foreign Secretary Liz Truss said: “The information being released today shines a light on the extent of Russian activity designed to subvert Ukraine, and is an insight into Kremlin thinking.
“Russia must de-escalate, end its campaigns of aggression and disinformation, and pursue a path of diplomacy.”
The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs tweeted that the Foreign Office was “circulating disinformation” and urged it to “cease these provocative activities” and “stop spreading nonsense”.

The alleged insult was in the form of a palace-related proverb that Kabas expressed both on an opposition tv channel and on her Twitter account, drawing condemnation from government officials.
A Turkish court has detained well-known journalist Sedef Kabas for allegedly insulting the country’s president.
Ms Kabas was arrested on Saturday in Istanbul and a court ordered her to be jailed ahead of a trial.
She is accused of targeting President Recep Tayyip Erdogan with a proverb which she quoted on live television on an opposition-linked TV channel. She denies the charge.
The charge carries a prison sentence of between one and four years.
“There is a very famous proverb that says that a crowned head becomes wiser. But we see it is not true,” she said on the Tele1 channel. “A bull does not become king just by entering the palace, but the palace becomes a barn.”
She also later posted the quote on Twitter.
“Her detention overnight at 2am because of a proverb is unacceptable,” he said. “This stance is an attempt to intimidate journalists, the media and society”.
Mr Erdogan spent 11 years as prime minister before becoming the country’s first directly-elected president in August 2014 – a supposedly ceremonial role.
His silencing of critics has caused alarm abroad, contributing to frosty relations with the EU, which has stalled Turkey’s bid to join the bloc.
Thousands of people have been charged with insulting Mr Erdogan since he became president.
In 2020 more than 31,000 investigations related to the charge were filed, Reuters news agency reports.
Mr Erdogan’s Chief Spokesman Fahrettin Altun described her comments as “irresponsible”.
“A so-called journalist is blatantly insulting our president on a television channel that has no goal other than spreading hatred,” he wrote on Twitter.
In her court statement, Ms Kabas denied intending to insult the president.
Editor of the Tele1 channel Merdan Yanardag criticised Ms Kabas’ arrest.

A new poll indicates that self-described independent voters would prefer, by an 18 percentage-point margin, that Republicans regain control of Congress in next year’s midterm elections.
The poll by John Zogby Strategies, released last week, found that 45 percent of independents want the GOP in charge of the House and Senate, compared to 27 percent who want Democrats to keep their majority. The remaining 28 percent said they were undecided.
We must support Arizona Senator Kyrsten Sinema and West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin. They have the intestinal fortitude to stand up to Tyranny. Although Senator Sinema is of the liberal bent we admire her audacity to stand up to Senator “upchuck Schumer”.

Fremont, California, residents on Friday remembered Michelle Go, who was pushed in front of an oncoming subway train in New York City last weekend, at a vigil organized in her hometown. 
Go, a 40-year-old Asian-American woman, was standing on the platform inside the Times Square subway station on the morning of Jan 15. when Simon Martial, 61, pushed her in front of an R train as it rolled in, police have said. She did not survive the impact.
Martial was charged with second-degree murder. On Wednesday, a Manhattan judge ordered him held without bail and required that he undergo a mental health evaluation to determine whether he is mentally fit.
