SOUTH AFRICA INNER CITY SCHOOLS MIRROR THOSE IN THE U.S.
Eight in 10 South African children struggle to read by age of 10
Eight out of 10 South African school children struggle to read by the age of ten, an international study has found.
South Africa ranked last out of 57 countries assessed in the Progress in International Reading Literacy Study, which tested the reading ability of 400,000 students globally in 2021.
Illiteracy among South African children rose from from 78% in 2016 to 81%.
The country’s education minister blamed the results on school closures during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Describing the results as “disappointingly low”, Angie Motshekga also said the country’s education system was faced with significant historical challenges, including poverty, inequality and inadequate infrastructure.
In many primary schools “reading instruction often focuses solely on oral performance, neglecting reading comprehension and making sense of written words”, she added.
The study showed that 81% of South African children could not read for comprehension in any of the country’s 11 official languages.
Alongside Morocco and Egypt, South Africa was one of only three African countries which participated in the assessments to monitor trends in literacy and reading comprehension of nine- and 10-year-olds.
Based on tests taken every five years at the end of the school year, the new study places countries in a global education league table.
Singapore secured top spot in the rankings with an average score of 587, while South Africa ranked last on 288 points – below second-last Egypt’s average of 378. The scores are benchmarked against an international average of 500.
The study also showed that overall, girls were ahead of boys in their reading achievement in nearly all of the assessed countries, but the gender gap has narrowed in the most recent testing round.
South Africa’s struggles with its education system are longstanding, with significant inequality between black and white students a consequence of the segregation of children under apartheid.
Education is one the single biggest budget expenses for the government, which can lead to disappointment over poor performance in studies like this.
A lack of suitable reading materials and inadequate infrastructure in schools, often things like toilets, have contributed to the crisis.
WHITE WASH BY THE MEDIA – THE BIG COVER-UP CONTINUES
CITIZENS WHO BELIEVE IN LIBERTY, TRUST, AN UNBIASED PRESS are disillusioned by the coverage given to John Durham’s four year investigation into 2016 election and beyond. This was expected that the liberal slime media would circle the wagons. As usual the libtards did dismissed the three hundred pages as a bunch of prairie coal.
Media rushes to dismiss Durham findings that further debunked beloved Russian collusion narrative
‘This is journalism at its most negligent,’ Jeffrey McCall said
The establishment media is being accused of journalistic “negligence” after rushing to dismiss Special Counsel John Durham’s report that reiterated one of its beloved talking points – that the Trump campaign coordinated with Russia to influence the 2016 presidential election – was bogus all along.
Despite the liberal pundits and other members of the press pushing the collusion narrative for years, Durham’s 300-page report indicated the Department of Justice and FBI “failed to uphold their mission of strict fidelity to the law” when it launched the Trump-Russia investigation that never found any collusion to begin with.
DePauw University journalism professor Jeffrey McCall believes the lack of interest in the Durham report by the media is “quite disturbing, but not really surprising.”

JOHN DURHAM REPORT LAYS IT ALL OUT IN BLACK AND WHITE
The 2020 election was stolen, maybe not at the ballot box, but by the liberal social media websites who failed to cover the Hunter Laptop Story and the stifling by the FBI and CIA to investigate the Criminal Biden Family. As we said before, Obama was the ringleader of this carnage. No investigation of Clinton, Comey and the rest of the criminal liars who saturated the FBI, such as McCabe.

PLEASE HELP EX-MARINE DANIEL PENNY – HE FOUGHT FOR YOU – HE NOW NEEDS YOUR HELP
If Daniel Penny was Black and the homeless man was White there would be no question on an arrest in this case.
Fundraiser for ex-Marine Daniel Penny nears $2M as attorneys say subway chokehold case ‘struck a chord’ with public
A fundraiser for Daniel Penny neared the $2 million mark Sunday, with his attorneys saying donations have kept rolling in because the subway chokehold case has “struck a chord” in the psyche of people across the country.
The “Legal Defense Fund” for Penny — the 24-year-old former Marine charged with manslaughter in the death of homeless man Jordan Neely — had eclipsed $1.8 million in donations by Sunday evening.
“The outpouring of support for Danny is always measured by the amount raised, but what is even more telling is that tens of thousands of people from all over the world have taken the time to donate,” Penny’s attorney, Steven M. Raiser, wrote in an email to The Post.
“This level of support demonstrates that the situation forced upon him in that subway car earlier this month, and his subsequent arrest, has struck a chord in the psyche of New Yorkers and has been echoed nationwide,” Raiser wrote.
“The message being sent by this massive showing of support is that any attempt to undermine the right and duty to protect one another against an imminent threat will be challenged.”
TIME FOR ERDOGAN TO GO
The citizens of Turkey have voted, the votes are being counted. What at stake is the authoritarian rule of a antisemite Jew and Israel hater. Also a coddler to Putin and against America’s role in Syria. Erdogan calls them the enemy. Additionally, NATO has to lay down the law that Turkey’s membership is at stake. His opponents are for a free Turkey without political interference in the defense forces, the police and local henchmen.
With reporting from Paul Kirby and Orla Guerin in Ankara, Jonny Dymond in Istanbul and Anna Foster in Hatay province
Summary
- Counting is under way in Turkey with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan facing a tough challenge after 20 years in power
- Six opposition parties have combined forces, picking opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu as their unity candidate
- Early numbers are being released, with claim and counter-claim about who is ahead
- The state news agency Anadolu has Erdogan in the lead, after 52% of the votes being counted
- But Ankara’s mayor, from the opposition CHP, says his party’s figures put Kilicdaroglu ahead
- This vote comes against the background of soaring inflation and the aftermath of devastating earthquakes
- If either man can secure half the presidential vote, they will be crowned winner – failing that, the race will go to a run-off
- Candidates for a 600-seat parliament are also being selected

Both sides claim to be ahead – and want to keep hold of the narrative
Jonny Dymond
Reporting from Istanbul
Both the governing AK Party and the opposition say they are ahead. They can’t both be right. But in one sense, it’s not even important – there are still lot of votes to be counted and the ones that have been counted so far may not be a fair representation of the overall vote.
So why the claim and counter-claim?
Both sides want to keep hold of the narrative in a country where recently election counts have been challenged – or the reporting of the numbers has simply stopped when it went against the governing party.
And the opposition wants to make sure that its observers stay at the polling stations keeping an eye on the count – if they think the night is lost, they might be tempted to drift away.
The body language of the opposition spokesmen is pretty relaxed and pretty confident. They are either good actors or they truly believe that their man Kemal Kilicdaroglu is in with a shout.

Results from three big cities might have a dramatic effect
As the counting of the votes continues in Turkey, votes from the three biggest cities – Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir – might change the result of the elections.
So far, more than 60% of the votes all around the country have been counted and Recep Tayyip Erdogan is ahead.
But many of the votes in the largest cities have yet to be counted.
Istanbul has a population of 16 million, while the capital, Ankara, and the western city of Izmir have a combined population of 10 million, and in all three only half the votes have been counted.
In Izmir and Istanbul so far, Kemal Kilicdaroglu seems ahead, while in Ankara, Erdogan is narrowly in the lead.
Izmir is a stronghold of the opposition CHP, and the party has increased its support in Istanbul and Ankara dramatically since the 2015 elections.
Ankara’s mayor has said Kilicdaroglu will win when the results from these three major cities come in.

YOU “WHITEY” ARE A THREAT TO DEMOCRACY
What we have is an insane president, one without his faculties. This is a known fact, not only can he think, but his handlers pull all the strings, tell him when to open his mouth, when to run for cover, when hide in his basement. Those are facts, not fiction.
The most dangerous people in America are Democrats.
‘Divider-in-chief’ Biden slammed for calling white supremacy ‘most dangerous terrorist threat’ in Howard grad speech
President Joe Biden spoke at Howard University’s commencement ceremony Saturday.
President Biden was slammed by critics Saturday after denouncing white supremacy as the “most dangerous terrorist threat” to the nation during a graduation address to students at Howard University
“Stand up against the poison. White supremacy … is the single most dangerous terrorist threat in our homeland,” Biden declared to a heavy round of applause.
“And I’m not just saying this because I’m at a Black HBCU. I say this wherever I go.”
Biden said that the US is still embroiled in its long battle against racism, but said that the graduating class of 2023 would carry out the work to “redeem the soul of this nation.”
Conservative pundits quickly took to Twitter to push back against Biden’s statement, with some accusing him of pandering as a political tactic.
REPARATIONS – PHOOEY
Many Americans have suffered through prejudice of one kind or another. It might have been their religion, the way the looked, their weight, their gait, their height, their nationality, their beliefs and their color. But in the end, most, if not all, have OVERCOME these assertions. However, today a blatant woke call for reparations to those for a past injustice, SLAVERY.
First of all the United States Government did not own any slaves. Those who owned slaves were mostly Southern Plantation Owners. Yes, they became rich off the backs of Blacks. To recognize the freeing of the Blacks from Slavery, we now celebrate Juneteenth.
But in other parts of the country, racism was pervasive. Whites became vigilantes, burning down Black owned businesses, homes and churches. Most devastation committed by members of the KKK. However, one such incident lives in the hearts of many today.
A century ago, a prosperous Black neighborhood in Tulsa, Okla., perished at the hands of a violent white mob. The Tulsa Race Massacre of 1921 killed hundreds of residents, burned more than 1,250 homes and erased years of Black success. This was a tragedy of unknown proportions. Those who suffered are due Reparations, but others who claim to be victims of racism are not.
There are always two ways of looking at Slavery. We bring you Venture Smith, once a slave, then a free man. A story that will bring tears of happiness to those who follow Venture through the travails of Slavery to that of a Free Man. Click here for the story told by Chandler Saint.
And there are other Blacks who made it in America. Musicians, athletes, entrepreneurs, doctors, lawyers and plain old common folk who labored like Whites in factories and fields. Ask many of them, and they will tell you that living in America was a gift of God.
However, we cant dismiss the fact that others who always feel negated by the success of other Blacks have achieved in America. These are the folks who have a CHIP on their shoulder. They dismiss America as the Land of the Free. That is OK with us, but don’t blame the 99% of Americans for their lot in life As Frank Sinatra said, “if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere. “
Gavin Newsom’s reparations experiment backfires as 2024 speculation swirls, critics say
California lawmaker says the ‘futile reparations exercise exposes the non-serious nature of Governor Newsom‘s leadership’
Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom is trying to dig himself out of a political predicament when it comes to slavery reparations proposed by his own task force.
Fox News Digital was first to report Tuesday evening that Newsom, after months of complete silence on the issue, declined to endorse the cash payments – which could reach as high as $1.2 million for a single recipient – recommended by his reparations task force, arguing that dealing with the legacy of slavery “is about much more than cash payments.”
“It will take absurd mental gymnastics to require California taxpayers, including new immigrants, low-income workers, and even some African Americans to pay for a wrong committed by other states more than 150 years ago, but that’s the position Newsom put himself in,” Assembly Republican Leader James Gallagher told Fox News Digital.
“No matter what he does, he’s going to anger part of his base,” he said. “This is just one more example of the Governor’s tendency to make big promises he can’t or won’t keep, and people are going to learn quickly that Newsom is all talk but no action.”
Newsom’s predicament – having to choose between endorsing budget-busting checks or angering a key Democratic constituency – is in large part a problem of his own making.
