Georgia Republicans File Sweeping Elections Bill To Limit Early And Absentee Voting. Only a small subset of Georgians would be eligible to vote absentee by mail, and those that do qualify would have to submit some sort of photo ID with their application either online or on paper. They would not be allowed to get an application from outside groups, and could only return ballots through the mail or deliver in person to the county elections office. If someone moves to Georgia, or moves within the state, they would have to remember to opt in to having the Department of Driver Services update their voter registration, and if they relocate to Georgia after a November general election they could not participate in the runoff.

ATLANTA — Republican state senators have rolled out a legislative package aimed at overhauling Georgia’s election laws by limiting who can vote by mail, outlining how to prove identification and outlawing absentee-ballot drop boxes.

The eight bills, filed late Monday by top Senate Republican leaders, mark the most sweeping attempt to change local voting laws after the 2020 election cycle stirred mistrust among many conservative Georgians over the state’s election integrity.

In the 2020 presidential election, more Floridians than ever before voted by mail. Now, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis wants to make voting by mail more difficult.

At a news conference in Palm Beach on Friday, DeSantis, a Republican, announced a proposed slate of new voting restrictions that would make it more difficult for voters to receive and return mail-in ballots in future Florida elections.

In doing so, he joined a wave of state and local officials who have worked in the months since the 2020 general election to introduce new voting restrictions, arguing these policies will make voting more secure.

Specifically, DeSantis called on the Florida legislature to address “ballot harvesting” (when mail-in ballots are collected for delivery at a drop-off location) and ballot drop boxes, to ban mailing out ballots to voters who haven’t requested one, and to tighten the rules around requesting a ballot so that requests must be made every election year.

Currently, a request for a vote-by-mail ballot is valid for two general election cycles, according to the Florida ACLU; DeSantis’s proposed change would mean that voters have to do so more frequently, potentially raising the logistical barriers to voting by mail.

DeSantis also lauded Florida’s voting system in his speech, arguing the state had the most “transparent and efficient election anywhere in the country,” and pointing out that Florida — which went for former President Donald Trump in November — counted ballots far more quickly than some states. But he claimed the new measures are necessary in order to ensure election integrity.

“We need to make sure that we continue to stay ahead of the curve,” DeSantis said Friday. “We need to make sure that our citizens have confidence in the elections.”

Types of Voter Fraud – How the Problem is Solved

Types of voter fraud include intimidation, vote buying, misinformation, misleading / confusing ballot papers, ballot stuffing, incorrect recording of votes, misuses of proxy votes, destruction / invalidation of ballots, and tampering with electronic voting machines.

• In order to obtain a “free ID” they need a certified copy of a birth certificate which costs from $10 to $45 depending on the state, a passport which costs $85, and certified naturalization papers which cost $19.95. As an added catch-22 obtaining a certified copy of your birth certificate usually requires a government-issued ID.
• The “free IDs” could cost tax payers millions.

So make no mistake here, voting fraud does exist. As Federal procedures require a State approved driver license to book and embark on an airline in the United States as of October 1, 2021 (delayed one year from 2020).

Ok, so what is the solution? Any person who is eligible to vote should be able to do so. An eligible person should apply in person for a birth certificate at the appropriate department of Vital Statistics, if they can’t physically be there, a Zoom video or equivalent will do. Of course it must be verifiable, via a passport or other government documentation such as FBI confirmed fingerprints, military identification etc. A certified birth certificate will then be issued free of charge. However, to reimburse the locality, the appropriate department would then send a certified list of the applicants to the Department of Homeland Security with their social security numbers for reimbursement. That will solve the monetary and verification problem once and for all. Note that the departments involved must be allowed access at the point of application SS verification service.

The Social Security Number Verification Service – This free online service allows registered users to verify that the names and Social Security numbers of hired employees match Social Security’s records.

And those who need certified naturalization papers will apply to the Federal Government Agency that initially certified the individual, most likely Immigration and Naturalization. This is simple as it gets. No money to change hands in this instance. All the person has to do is provide proper documentation, such as a Birth Certificate identifying the individual. So where is the problem? The U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, will provide Certified True Copies and return these along with the supplied documentation to the requester.

CNN host Chris Cuomo was mocked on Twitter for lambasting a Texas politician while his brother, Gov. Andrew Cuomo, faces calls to resign and impeachment inquiries after an exclusive Post report found his administration covered up thousands of nursing home COVID-19 deaths.

In a Thursday morning tweet, the younger Cuomo posted an article about a Texas mayor who stepped down from office after calling his constituents “lazy” amid a massive power outage.

Cuomo asked his followers: “Resign or apologize and learn and become a better leader?” Twitter users couldn’t help but wonder if the television anchor was actually talking about Gov. Cuomo, who is embroiled in scandal after his top aide admitted that Albany covered up thousands of coronavirus-related deaths in New York nursing homes to avoid political blowback from the Trump White House.

Many of the tweet’s 7,100 commenters pointed out the irony of the rhetorical post.

“I don’t disagree, but considering the trouble your brother is in right now, should you really be making a tweet like this?,” one comment read.

“That is great advice for your brother. Do you think he’ll take it,” one person wrote.

Fast forward to today, and Cuomo is now facing calls for his resignation, an investigation by the FBI and federal prosecutors, and angry state legislators from his own Democratic party who want to strip him of the emergency powers they granted him during the pandemic.

One of the New York Democrats who signed a letter calling for the withdrawal of Cuomo’s emergency powers told the New York Post that last week he received an unexpected phone call from the governor.

According to Ron Kim, an assemblyman from Queens, New York City, the call began with silence before Cuomo said: “Mr Kim, are you an honorable man?” He then proceeded to yell down the phone at Kim for 10 minutes, shouting: “You will be destroyed” and “You will be finished”.

When the Post’s report came out, Cuomo responded by devoting a large chunk of his press briefing to an all-barrels attack on Kim, accusing him of a slew of unethical practices.

The contrast between the untethered attack-machine of this week’s Cuomo, and the teary-eyed empathist he projected last March is so startling it has left many outside observers bemused. But to New York politicians who have for years been in the Cuomo orbit, it was as surprising as the spaghetti and meatballs the governor likes to cook his family every Sunday dinner.

Then the New York Post dropped a bombshell. The paper reported that Cuomo’s top aide, Melissa DeRosa, had admitted to Democratic leaders in a conference call that the administration had withheld the true nursing home death toll from state lawmakers.

DeRosa told them in the leaked conversation that “we froze” because Donald Trump was trying to use the deaths as a “giant political football”.

What began as a dispute over health guidelines and immunity quickly morphed into a fully-fledged cover-up scandal. In the wake of the Post story, the state revised its official tally from 8,500 to more than 15,000 deaths – making a mockery of Cuomo’s long-standing boast that his state had among the best records in the country with regard to nursing homes Covid fatalities.

An official with the Electric Reliability Council of Texas said Tuesday afternoon that 16 gigawatts of renewable energy generation, mostly wind generation, were offline. Nearly double that, 30 gigawatts, had been lost from thermal sources, which includes gas, coal and nuclear energy.

By Wednesday, those numbers had changed as more operators struggled to operate in the cold: 45 gigawatts total were offline, with 28 gigawatts from thermal sources and 18 gigawatts from renewable sources, ERCOT officials said.

See, the problem here is the future 100% reliance on wind power, gigantic turbines fanning across the horizon where oil derricks once stood. However, as we have just seen, when they go down, we go down. This is not a scenario we looking forward to.

McConnell silent in aftermath of Trump broadside as ex-president threatens to get involved in GOP primaries.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell was silent Tuesday night into Wednesday morning after former President Donald Trump lit into him in a lengthy statement calling on Republican senators to abandon McConnell and threatening primary challenges to incumbents. 

“Mitch is a dour, sullen, and unsmiling political hack, and if Republican Senators are going to stay with him, they will not win again,” Trump said Tuesday. “Where necessary and appropriate, I will back primary rivals who espouse Making America Great Again and our policy of America First.”

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has a new critic in comedian Trevor Noah.

The 36-year-old star railed against the New York politician in a recent episode of “The Daily Show” over the Cuomo administration’s handling of the data surrounding COVID-19 in nursing homes. 

It was recently revealed that the governor’s office may have undercounted the number of coronavirus deaths in nursing homes by more than 50%, according to a report from New York Attorney General Letitia James. 

And one of the biggest bombshells arose late Thursday when the New York Post revealed that Cuomo’s top aide, Melissa DeRosa, admitted during a conference call with Democratic leaders that the administration hid unfavorable information about the state’s nursing home COVID-19 deaths out of concern that it “was going to be used against us.”

“Wow, really, Governor Cuomo?” Noah asked during the episode. “You lowered your own numbers to make yourself look better?”
